Renting a Home or Apartment
There are a number of property management companies that have everything from one bedroom apartments and townhouses to mobile homes and houses available for rent. Some locations accept pets and allow smoking, while others do not. Please inform the Property Management company when filling out the application whether or not this applies to your situation.
- FSJ Now Classifieds: This is a large listing of apartments, townhouses, duplexes, rooms and houses for rent.
- Alaska Highway News Classifieds: This local newspaper lists a few rental properties.
- Sterling Management: This property management company has a large listing of properties to choose from.
- Li-Car Management Group: This site also offers a listing of rental options in Fort St. John and area.
- Action Property: Action Property also lists a number of rental properties in Fort St. john and area.
In order to rent any property, please ensure you have:
- Completed the Property Management company's Application Form
- Photocopy of a piece of ID (passport, driver license, Social Insurance Number card, BC ID, etc)
- Previous landlord references
- Employment references
- Proof of employment or proof of means of support
- Personal references
- Damage Deposit Payment (varies depending on Property Management company).
Before you move in:
- Make sure you have signed tenancy agreement
- Check for and note any damage
- Arrange for utilities (hydro, natural gas)
- Buy property insurance
- Arrange for phone, television and Internet service
