How to Get Here!
The City of Fort St. John is located in north-eastern British Columbia and can accessed by automobile, bus and air.
Traveling times to Fort St. John are approximately (depending on weather, schedules, layovers, etc):
- seven (7) hours from Edmonton, Alberta by car travelling West on Highway 1 (Trans Canada), then North on Highway 43 to Grande Prairie, continuing on Highway 43 to the British Columbia border, continuing on Highway 2 to Dawson Creek, then North on Highway 97 to Fort St. John. Travelling by bus from Edmonton will travel roughly the same route, but allow for an extra 3-4 hours for stops.
- sixteen (16) hours from Vancouver. Follow Highway 1 (Trans Canada) to Cache Creek, then continue north on Highway 97 through 100 Mile House, Williams Lake, Prince George, and Chetwynd. Turn North onto the Braden Road until it rejoins Highway 97 (NOTE, you can also continue on Highway 97 to Dawson Creek, then go North to Fort St. John, but it will add approximately 1 hour to the trip). Turn North onto Highway 97 to Fort St. John. Bus travel follows a similar route, but allow an extra 6-7 hours for stops.
- one (1) hour by air from Edmonton.
- one and a half (1.5) hours by air from Vancouver
